Basic tutorial of how to make a sword blade from a piece of flat, high carbon steel. Lots of still pictures and writing. Not super exiting to watch, it’s just for information purposes. Stock removal techniques will produce a blade of equal quality to a forged monosteel blade given equal heat treatment procedures. Forging is capable of doing a number of things that can’t be done with just stock removal, for instance pattern welding and laminating steel, or making a blade from crucible steel or a bloom. If you don’t like stock removal methods, don’t watch the video. If you believe in physical impossibilities such as “edge packing” to make steel more dense or don’t understand how heat treating affects grain growth, go do some reading and research before wasting both our time by posting foolish comments.
