This will be a pin for an oil rig crane made from EN19 steel original weight (before turning) around 250 Kg. It was done on my works lathe (Dean Smith & Grace) over a period of 2 days started at 210 mm Diameter and small end finishes at around 60mm and large end finishes at around 180mm…removes about 5/8 ths of the bar weight when done!!! finishes about 95 Kg!!! (Still wouldn’t want to be in front of it if it comes out of the chuck at 220 RPM though!!) As for the chips coming off the bar…well if they hit your skin THEY STICK!!! and I have the scars to prove it!
