New Aluminum-Steel Alloy a Super Metal; Automotive’s Multi-Material Approach



Researchers at South Korea’s Pohang University of Science and Technology have devised an aluminum steel alloy that is strong, flexible, and lightweight. It compares favorably to titanium alloys but is much less expensive. In auto news, GM’s new CT6 sedan uses aluminum with steel to produce a strong, light body.
