What are Stainless steel tubes? What are the important attributes? Find out more: https://www.chuankok.com/stainless-steel-tubes.html
This video seeks to explain what seamless stainless steel tubes are. They are usually made of SS316 material and are commonly used for high pressure marine application, hydraulic systems and oil and gas.
Stainless Steel Tubings are made in accordance to ASTM A213/A269, TP316/ TP316L standards.
The tubes outer diameter is specified in ASTM A269/A213 standards. However, for hydraulic applications, a tighter tolerance is usually specified to work well with compression fittings.
For tubes thickness, the tubes are made to A213 and A269 average wall thickness, with the permissible variations in wall thickness +/− 10%.
Annealed and pickled seamless tubes have a matt finish while polished seamless tubes have a shiny finish.
Stainless steel are suitable for cold bending. A bend radius of 3x the external tube diameter is recommended for cold bending of tubes.
Tubes made of TP316 & TP316L are also suitable for arc welding according to usual techniques. The welding filler should be selected in accordance with DIN EN 1600 and DIN EN 12072 part 1 taking into account the type of application and the welding technique.
Chemical composition of stainless steel tube contains molybdenum ranging from 2% to 3%.
