This tip helps you cut metal pipe, most commonly for cutting closet poles. To mark the pipe for cutting, first use your tape measure and pencil to mark the length. Since the pencil mark easily wipes away and is not a strong visual cue, take some painter’s tape and place the edge on the pencil mark and cover the keeper side of the pole. The tape will help protect the pole from scuffing and marring when you make the cut.
