No, they don’t make tubes. But Tube City IMS, does ship a whole lot of steel globally — about a million tons a month. The company, which was started as a mom and pop scrap metal company in McKeesport in 1926, now operates as a full service steel supply chain provider on 82 sites internationally in 11 countries and employs 4,400. Why the name Tube City? The company is headquartered in Glassport Pa, which was once known as the “Tube City.” Joseph Curtin, chairman president and CEO of Tube City IMS discusses the company’s past, present and future as one of Pittsburgh’s leading industrial corporations.
